Weekly Photo Challenge: It’s Not This Time of Year Without…

It’s not this time of  year without something sparkly and pretty on the dining room table! My mother loved to decorate the house for the holidays. The older she got, the less she decorated, but there was ALWAYS a holiday appropriate centerpiece on the table. The tradition lives on – plus a little mistletoe and holly, just like the old days.

The Seasons as I See It

My response to today’s one-word prompt: Scorched

img_6039-2

Flowers are wilting

Petals are dropping

Ground is scorched

by the glare of the sun.

Moon is shining

Stars are hiding

Shadows soon pierce

the dark velvet sky.

Summer is ending

Autumn is calling

Crisp, pretty leaves

now crunch at my feet.

Storm is brewing

Cold is looming

North wind touches

the tip of the breeze.

Color is fading

Nothing is growing

Dreary days plague us

when winter sets in.

Air is warming

Snow is melting

Clouds weep with joy

for hope has returned.

Green is bursting

Birds are chirping

Spring has arrived

all’s right with the world!
